I’ve been blessed to be an ordained minister for 35 years. I hope you’ll allow me the grace and liberty to share these thoughts with you – a few Biblical Principles for Business. These are not the only principles for business, but they are most helpful.
1) GOD CREATED ALL THINGS
John 1:1-3
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
2) GOD OWNS ALL THINGS
Proverbs 50:12
If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.
3) WE ARE GOD’S STEWARDS
1 Peter 4:10
As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Mat 24:45 and Luke 12:42
Who then is that faithful and wise steward.
Matthew 25:23
His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
4) PRAY ABOUT YOUR WORK
Philippians 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
5) THANK GOD IN ALL THINGS
1 Thessalonians 5:18
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
6) CONDUCT YOUR BUSINESS WITH HUMILITY.
Proverbs 16:18
But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Luke 14:11
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
7) BE DILIGENT AND AVOID LAZINESS.
Colossians 3:23
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men
2 Thessalonians 3:10
If any would not work, neither should he eat.
8) BE HONEST AND DO NOT LIE OR EXAGGERATE.
Proverbs 12:22
Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.
Exodus 20:16
Thou shalt not bear false witness (Deu 5:20; Luke 18:20; Mark 10:19)
Proverbs 14:5
A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.
9) LIVE THE GOLDEN RULE
Matthew 7:12
Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them.
Luke 6:31
And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
10) HELP OTHERS WHO CANNOT BENEFIT YOU
Matthew 25:40
Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
11) GIVE MORE THAN WHAT IS REQUESTED
Matthew 5:41
And whosoever shall compel thee to go a mile, go with him twain.
12) TRUST THE LAW OF SOWING AND REAPING
2 Corinthians 9:6
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
Galatians 6:7-9
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
13) REJOICE AND BE CHEERFUL
Philippians 4:4
Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.
Psalm 5:11
But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
Psalm 118:24
This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Proverbs 15:13
A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.
14) BE A GIVER
Luke 6:38
GIVE, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.
15) MEDITATE ON GOD’S WORD
Joshua 1:8
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and THEN THOU SHALT HAVE GOOD SUCCESS.
