How & Why to Qualify

The following is from Tom ‘Big Al’ Schreiter

Question: “I saw these cool business cards. The printer made them look like folded $100 bills. Should I get them?”
Answer: Is the only thing keeping you from success a business card with a $100 bill graphic? I don’t think so. That is not the problem.

Question: “Should I buy this $499 social media course to learn about attraction marketing?”
Answer: If you attract a prospect, what will you say? Will you say the same things that kept your relatives and friends from joining? Giving someone $499 so you can sit at home and hope for leads may not be your biggest concern.

Question: “My family turned me down. My friends refused to listen. My coworkers made fun of me. Where can I find new prospects to talk to?”
Answer: If your family, friends, and coworkers all hated what you told them, strangers won’t like your words any better. Let’s work on what you say.

Question: “Nobody wants to set an appointment and listen to my presentation. What should I do?”
Answer: Stop trying to give them presentations against their will. They’ve already told us they don’t want a presentation. We should learn how to present our opportunity without a presentation. People don’t have unlimited time. We must respect that.

Question: “How do I talk to people on social media so they will become a prospect?”
Answer: The same way you are talking to people now. Of course, if people are telling you “no” with the words you are saying now, those same words won’t work on social media. Going on social media to repeat the same non-successful words is not a solution. First, we must fix what we say.

Are we picking up a trend here? As networkers who are just starting out, we don’t want to take the blame for our failures.

We want to blame the gurus for hiding their secret techniques from us, not having access to the latest social media autoresponder tool, or falling for the latest funnel hype. We want to place the blame on everything outside of us. This is human nature.

The reality is that most of these questions and challenges will go away if we start learning the basic skills of our business. The longer we put off learning the basic skills, the more time we waste searching for some outside miracle cure.

Bottom line: We must learn how to talk to people correctly.

So what is going to be easier for you? To learn new words that work? Or to continue using the words that are not getting the results you want?

The Secret .. is learning to ask a good QUALIFING QUESTIONS first, and only INVITE the people who are QUALIFIED.

Qualifying Questions:

“If you had a free vacation for 2, where would you go?”
“If you had a free cruise for 2, where would you go?”
“How many cruise vacations have you been on?
“Do you like to pay full price OR save a ton of money?”
